Missionary Coffee was created by the people of Park Lake Baptist Church in Sachse, TX out of love for the Honduran people and their great coffee. While on an extreme mission trip in Honduras a team from Park Lake hiked up into the mountains to take the word of God to the remote villages of central Honduras. The team took only what the could fit on their mules and their backs. They took clothing, medicine, vitamins, toys, bibles along with a spanish version of the Jesus movie and generator, screen and projector.

The people there were very loving and inviting, many asked us into their homes to eat with them and pray for their families. People who have so little were so willing to give much to strangers who they have never seen before. We later learned that we were the first Americans who have ever made it into that village. The weather was relentless as rain was always a constant factor, making traveling very slow and muddy, however the spirits were always high especially when you can see God's hand working in such awesome ways.

The first day the team arrived a makeshift tent was erected to show the movie under. As nightfall came we announced into the villages that we would be showing a movie. Naturally a great curiosity was aroused as there is no electricity in these villages and entertainment such as this is unheard of. After showing the movie our guide and local missionary Dario spoke to the people and explained the plan of salvation and what great thing God can do for you if you let him into your life. Many people stepped forward that night to accept Christ and because we came to them they heard God's message. That was a awesome feeling.

We spent the next day visiting homes of the villagers. We listened to their prayer request and prayed for them as a group. The people would offer us their home grown coffee and roast it right there on their wood burning stove. The taste was amazing, I wasn't use to coffee tasting this good! and here they were roasting it on a stove and turning it with a wooden rake. We spoke to the farmers of the town and learned much about the harvesting process and what all went into making their great coffee. I offered to buy some from a lady to take back with me to the states to share what I have found. When giving her the smallest Limpera bill a had (about 2 dollars) she was very reluctant to take it, too much she said. Can you imagine someone saying you are offering them to much for what they are selling? When I convinced her to take it she took back her bag of coffee and added about 5 lbs to it. The next morning I received another 5lbs of whole bean.

Many souls were saved on that trip and a great love was born for these people and their coffee. After we made it back to Sachse, TX we began sharing the coffee that we had received and the response was overwhelming positive. People were raving about the taste and how smooth and flavorful it was.

An ideal was born! What better way to help the people of Honduras than by buying their coffee bean and selling it to people in the congregation. Money made could go to sending more people and supplies to the villages and buying their bean would help the farmers and their families.

We began studying the roasting process and what it took to make a great cup of coffee. We visited other large roasting companies and spent many a hour researching techniques, roasting times, flavoring and equipment. We began working with Hondurans importing there coffee bean from plantations that use Strict High Grown Methods and cultivate 100% of their crops under shade. Learn more click here!
